QTA™ system - On-site crop analysis
The quality of a crop – whether rapeseed, soy or grain – cannot be judged just from its appearance. Whereas complex and expensive lab tests used to be necessary, the Cognis QTA™ (quality trait analysis) system now make it possible to determine the true quality of the crop within a minute – right after the harvest.
The most important component on site is a highly sensitive near-infra-red (NIR) spectrometer. It is connected up to a central computer via the Internet. The farmer pours a sample of the crop into the receptacle of the spectrometer, accesses a protected area of the QTA™ website using a password, and receives the result of the analysis within about a minute.
All of the data can be stored, forwarded to various recipients or a control center, and analyzed and evaluated in a larger context over long periods of time. This system is also ideal for the synchronous analysis of the same product from different areas of cultivation. Differing yields can be compared immediately. Precise measurements are ensured by a patented, central calibration system, which continuously calibrates itself without the addition of reference materials.
No investments are necessary. All of the equipment is provided and serviced by Cognis free of charge. Adjustment of the QTA™ system to new areas of cultivation or products is also part of the service. Customers are charged only on a per-analysis basis.
