Two-packs for double strength
Where bonded joints have to exhibit high strength and resistance, reactive adhesives are invariably the first choice. Their actual bonding strength is usually generated in combination with a further component. And it is the reactivity of both components that is key to the achievement of a fast curing with durable, tough crosslinkage. Cognis offers a wide range of monomers, polyols, additives and epoxy resins to ensure a perfect combination of adhesive and hardener for every application.
Cognis solutions: fast setting epoxy curing agents Capcure® mercaptans, Versamine® modified aliphatic amines, Versamid® polyaminoamides
Ecological benefit: Low toxicity
Performance benefits:
- Rapid cure of epoxies
- Low-temperature cure
- Thin-film cure
- Light colour
- Excellent adhesion to a wide variety of substrates
- Little or no surface preparation
- Bond strength sufficient to replace mechanical fastening
Cognis monomers for anaerobic adhesives: Bisomer
® locking compounds or “sealants” which are used to secure, seal, and retain close-fitting parts.
Ecological benefits:
- Range of products free from R (risk) phrases
Performance benefits:
- Product concept with the ability to improve hardness, flexibility and impact strength
- Reduced viscosity
Cognis oleochemical polyols: Sovermol® fatty diol which, due to its low viscosity, provides an excellent base for solvent-free systems.
Benefit: Simple satisfaction of special requirements such as flexibility, chemical stability, hardness, gel time.
Cognis additives:
- Perenol® leveling agent for eliminating surface defects and problems such as poor substrate wetting, cratering, Bénard cells, floating and inadequate flow
- Texaphor® wetting and dispersing agents that simplify the addition of fillers. Due to the viscosity reduction achieved, the system filling rate can be increased.
- Rilanit® rheology additive for helping to control vertical stability.
Cognis building blocks: DDI 1410 – a unique performance monomer dimer diisocyanate
Benefits:
- Provides ability to develop low-viscosity liquids with good solubility
- Low water sensitivity
