Cognis in Japan
Cognis Japan Ltd. has its local manufacturing facilities in Kitatone, in the Ibaraki prefecture. The Kitatone plant produces value added products for the care chemicals industry, the plastics industry, and food additives for the Nutrition and Health sector.
The locally produced specialty products meet the high quality standards required in the Japanese market and have earned a high reputation at customers throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
The total area of the Kitatone facilities encompasses about 46.000 square meters and includes one blending plant, an esterification plant and application technology facilities for personal care, plastics, functional products as well as food application. At present the capacities installed are able to manufacture a total of about 15,000t p.a.

Since the operation started in 1975, the production site Kitatone has been mainly producing surfactants, emollients for cosmetics and toiletries industry, detergents, lubricants, PVC plasticizers and food oil.
The Kitatone plant is ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001 certified.
