Welcome to Cognis Boussens

The plant at Boussens, 70 kilometers from Toulouse, was founded in 1933 and is historically the head office of Cognis France with a surface of about 8,000 square meters. Its main activities are the manufacturing of fatty alcohols hydrogenation high pressure, methyl esters and sterols. For our production we use vegetable refined or semi-refined raw materials such as coconut oil, palm kernel oil, rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil.

The main manufacturing steps to produce fatty alcohols are:

• transesterification, production of methyl esters
• catalytic hydrogenation high pressure, production of crude fatty alcohols
• distillation and fractioning of these crude fatty alcohols
• production of sterols

The plant is subjected to the environmental French regulations and focuses mainly on:

• reduction of pollution of aqueous rejects
• diminution of water consumption
• reduction and gathering of atmospheric rejects
