Dermican™ LS 9745 – an expert peptide for high tech anti-aging solutions
Consumers of different ages increasingly expect cosmetic products to prevent and reduce the signs of aging, and to keep their skin firm, supple and elastic. As a result, manufacturers are constantly searching for effective cosmetic ingredients with scientifically proven mechanisms of action and demonstrable benefits in this area. At the recent IFSCC trade show in Osaka, Japan, Laboratoires Sérobiologiques (LS), Cognis Care Chemicals’ active ingredients business, launched Dermican. This new product keeps skin looking and feeling younger by using a targeted mechanism to optimize the functionality of collagen fibers.
Boosting collagen synthesis has been recognized as a key approach in anti-aging for some time now. LS’s in-depth research into the subject of skin aging has revealed that the way the collagen fibrils are organized is just as important in keeping skin youthful as the total number of them. A study conducted by LS have highlighted the crucial role that proteoglycans – small protein-sugar complexes – play in organizing collagen fibers, and consequently in maintaining the integrity of the extra-cellular matrix (ECM). Based on these findings, LS has designed Dermican, a synthetic tetrapeptide with a unique anti-aging action that targets the metabolism of a specific proteoglycan – lumican – to enhance the skin’s strength and firmness.
Scientifically proven skin regeneration and reorganization
An extensive study conducted by LS into the proteoglycans has shown that one of them, lumican, plays an important role – it is involved in both the synthesis of collagen fibrils and their organization into functional fibers, ensuring the integrity of the extra-cellular matrix. The study also showed that the synthesis of this proteoglycan slows down with age. Several in vitro tests have demonstrated Dermican’s capacity to boost the synthesis of lumican and collagen 1, and a clinical study has also confirmed its efficacy in making the skin firmer and plump after a four-month course of treatment.
Dermican LS 9745 – for a new generation of anti-aging products
According to Euromonitor research, global sales of anti-aging products have increased by 108.5 percent since 1997, and are now worth 9.8 billion US dollars a year. To meet this increasing demand, cosmetics manufacturers are constantly searching for new solutions to give them a competitive advantage in this dynamic market. “With Dermican, LS has once again demonstrated its ability to provide market-ready solutions that serve the latest trends,” says Isabelle Benoit, LS Global Marketing Manager. “It is a pure tetrapeptide, developed with a single objective – to optimize the functionality of collagen fibers via an original mechanism of action that ensures proper anchoring of the collagen fibrils. It gets as close as is currently possible to recreating the physiology of younger skin, making users both look and feel more youthful. Given today’s cosmeceutical trends, with everyone looking for ever-more efficient actives with proven mechanisms of action, Dermican offers the perfect solution. It is the ultimate weapon in the fight against skin aging.”
