Cognis Sustainability Report wins international award

At this year’s Spotlight Awards, organized by the League of American Communication Professionals (LACP), specialty chemicals supplier Cognis once again received an award for its print communications: the company’s 2004 Sustainability Report was given a gold award. The Spotlight Awards are given for excellence in print, video and online communications.

Published in German and English, and distributed globally, the Cognis Sustainability Report finished second in the “Annual Reports” category for companies with annual sales of over one billion US dollars. The jury assessed entries against criteria including overall narrative, visual design, creativity and message clarity, and they gave the Sustainability Report 94 out of a possible 100 points, including a maximum score for visual quality. The Report finished 81st overall out of the 850 entries submitted by companies around the world.

Best practice in communications
This year’s award continues Cognis’ excellent track record in LACP awards over recent years. Cognis Sustainability Reports were also among the winners at both the 2003 and 2004 Spotlight Awards, picking up Silver and Platinum respectively. The success of the Sustainability Report has been matched by the Cognis Annual Report, which won LACP awards in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

Comments Susanne Marell, Vice President Corporate Communications: “I am very proud that this year, the LACP once again sees our Sustainability Report as reflecting best practices in corporate communications. In just five years, Cognis has managed to build a strong brand and ensure that it is seen in markets around the world as offering innovative, environmentally sustainable solutions of a consistently high quality – and this success is due in no small measure to its constant, highly targeted communications.”
