Cognis announces new manufacturing plant in Brazil will be operating in 2003
With construction already underway, Cognis expects on-time completion and increased production of polyol ester lubricants for the refrigeration market by year-end
Cognis announces the construction and anticipated Q4, 2003 completion of a new manufacturing facility in Jacarei, Brazil. Primary products will include Cognis ProEco® polyol ester synthetic lubricants for the refrigeration market. Patented ProEco® polyol ester refrigerations lubricants exhibit superior miscibility with a wide array of CFC, HCFC and HFC refrigerants. They’re also compatible with new materials of construction used in today’s compressors, bearings, tubing and other components.

The new plant, located in Jacarei city in the Vale do Paraiba, will practice the same environmentally sound production principles already established in other Cognis facilities in Brazil. “Cognis is committed to sustainability and the protection of the environment. We were one of the first companies in Brazil to put in place a waste water treatment plant in the early 70’s”, comments Rubens-Paulo Becker, President of Cognis Brazil. “However, we soon realized that instead of simply operating a waste water treatment plant, companies could go one step further and strive for zero waste water. By utilizing our natural raw materials as efficiently as possible, we have become pioneers in water conservation.”
