Let's develop our future

Developing and sustaining our talents is extremly important to us as we understand that we can only succeed with the commitment of all of our employees. We don't just talk the talk, we walk the walk.

Cognis invests in people and supports its employees' development regardless of function or managerial level. Also there are development opportunities that range from gaining experience on international projects as well as possibilities to improve your individual skills, both professionally and personally.

Our training courses are organized at a local level or as a regional management development program, offered within the Cognis College. The high quality trainings are designed to ensure optimal learning as well as offer great networking opportunities. The Cognis Challenge is an impressive example for a truly global program which includes more than 40 participants from all over the world.

Cognis Challenge 2010: learning in a global environment

The Cognis Challenge Program, which most recently took place in Langkawi, Malaysia, is designed for talented managers who want to broaden their knowledge and understanding of Cognis' core business processes. The program allows all participants to gather practical knowledge in Sales & Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain Management, and HR Management.

Building on the current Cognis goals and strategic direction, the program takes participants through an invaluable team learning experience in a multicultural environment. Consisting of three parts, the program combines interactive academic learning with experiential learning, and a customized case study to apply the newly acquired knowledge. Therefore, theoretical training sessions, intercultural teamwork and outdoor activities are just some of the elements that await the participants. One of the highlights of the Cognis Challenge Program was the preservation of the rainforest, supporting the Langkawi Rainforest Preservation Project by building a seeding and nursery facility under guidance of a local conservationist.

The successful 2010 Cognis Challenge taught the participants some valuable lessons about the importance of team building and team work, intercultural communication and leadership, and sustainability. "All the teams did a fantastic job and achieved great results," said Jodie Goulden, the principle sponsor of this year's program. "Throughout the process, everyone applied the knowledge that they had gained throughout the week, and showed a willingness to learn from each other."
