Fast foam knockdown

The formation of foam is the most frequent cause of coating defects such as pinholes or fish eyes. Defoamers are therefore used to prevent the occurrence of unwanted air bubbles. These substances penetrate the bubble and cause the lamellar formed to burst without themselves producing any foam.

Dehydran^® defoamers are state-of-the-art products from Cognis that offer fast foam knockdown and long-term defoaming persistence even under high sheer conditions and after heat aging. Foam on the press side is a major area of concern for printing ink manufacturers, since most commercially available defoamers lack long-term persistence. Over time, and especially under high-sheer conditions, many defoamers can lose their effectiveness, thus requiring the use of press-side defoamers. Our defoamers are designed to withstand both the challenges of the ink manufacturing conditions and of the press-side environment, thus avoiding the need for press-side defoamers in systems properly formulated with Dehydran^® defoamers.
