P.I.T. emulsions powered by inspiration
Mother Nature is the best designer of all. Following her example, we develop technologies that are innovative in the best sense of the word: ecologically sound and at the same time highly effective. We make use of the basis laws of chemistry. To produce microfine and stable emulsions for EC products, we have developed P.I.T., a process that takes advantage of a very special behavior demonstrated by oil molecules in water under specific conditions.

Phase inversion temperature emulsions, known as P.I.T. emulsions,
are fine, stable emulsions which can be thinned with water as required.
They are produced through a process which makes intelligent use of a
natural property of oil-in-water emulsions.
The consistency and structure of oil/water mixtures depend in part
on temperature. To produce P.I.T. emulsions, the oil-in-water mixture
is first slowly heated. At a temperature of 81 to 89 degrees Celsius, a
fine emulsion is formed. When heated further, it is transformed into a
water-in-oil emulsion. Subsequent rapid cooling to about 30 degrees
stabilizes the fine P.I.T. emulsion in the inversion phase.
The consistency and structure of oil-in-water emulsions are primarily dependent on temperature. There is a range (81-89°C) in which P.I.T. emulsions with particularly small oil droplets occur without the need for any major intervention.
The special effect is that it is as fluid as water. The fine dispersion of the oil droplets remains extremely stable and does not change, even if stored for a long period of time. Special solvents are not needed to prevent the emulsion from separating. Consequently, it can be used for a broad spectrum of applications, from cosmetic products to plant protection products.
From molecular to macro: The various types of emulsions with their particle size and and visual appearance at a glance.
The primary advantage for the manufacture of plant protection products, is that the solution can be easily further diluted with water. And this means that various products can be made from a single basic formulation: Concentrates for professional use in agriculture or, in diluted form, consumer applications for the home and gardening market. Formulating can be that simple.
The high-quality P.I.T. emulsions are also made from natural raw materials and are almost completely biodegradable.
